Links for Safety Training

Alert VU – Sign-up to receive alerts about campus emergency situations via cell phone, land line, or e-mail. All library staff members should be strongly encouraged to sign up for this service.

CPR Classes – Information on the Heartsaver AED Program and a link to register for classes. Staff training for CPR was identified as a goal for emergency training by Juanita Murray.

VU Emergency Guides – This page provides links to guidelines for handling many different emergency and security situations, including natural disasters, fire, medical emergencies, and security threats (bombs, active shooter, etc.)

Emergency Response Templates – This page provides templates for various emergency and security situations that can be downloaded and customized to each library. This could be very helpful for updating and/or creating security plan notebooks.

See Something, Say Something – Vanderbilt's implementation of the anti-terrorism initiative launched by the NYPD. This program should be highlighted during security training for staff.

Pandemic Influenza Emergency Plan – The library should be aware of potential implementation of this plan, particularly because of its focus on distance education during a pandemic.
